Mentorship

Weaving Wisdom

Welcome to AfriCHI Mentorship 2025. Join us on our mentorship journey as we come together and weave wisdom towards AfriCHI 2025 in Egypt. Our mentorship programme seeks to support students and early career researchers in maximising their engagement in conference activities. From polishing up your submission to reviewing submissions and networking at the conference the mentorship team aims to equip you with the right building blocks to succeed. If you are interested in taking part as a mentor, please complete the following form here. If you would like to participate as a mentee, kindly complete this form. The deadline for applications is Sunday 20th October 2024 and spots are limited. If you have any questions for us do not hesitate to reach out: africhi-mentorship@googlegroups.com

Our Objectives

In line with the conference theme of “Re-centering African Wisdom in HCI” we seek to draw on diverse expertise to best guide students and early career researchers in the pursuit of HCI scholarship that draws inspiration from African Wisdom. We hope that through this programme mentees have the opportunity to also be heard and lead their work in ways in which we can create African-centred and situated experiences for all.

Our Offering

We have a series of activities lined up for our mentees. Our activities will mainly take the form of workshops and group mentorship. These activities aim to support our mentees in

fully engaging in the conference and meaningfully driving conversations on digital transformation and innovation within Africa. Once selected as a mentee you will be provided with the outline on how these activities will be manifested within the programme.

This may be in the form of facilitating a writing seminar, providing feedback to junior authors, facilitating reviewing workshops, shepherding  a paper, or providing top tips on presenting and networking at a conference. Mentorship FAQs Section

1- What happens after I apply and I complete the online form?

We will go through a selection process whereby we review your application. Once the selection process is complete you will be notified of your outcome and provided with full details on the next steps. Selection will be based on a strong motivation and commitment to being part of the programme.

Unfortunately no. This programme will run until November 2025
